Hyperinflation
Beginning in 2016 I collaborated with Charles Bushnell and added Venezuela as the 57th-ever case of hyperinflation in the Hanke–Krus World Hyperinflation Table, after showing that monthly inflation exceeded 50% for at least 30 days. According to my estimates, Venezuela’s inflation reached an annual rate of roughly 80,000% in 2018.Â
